Two Day Public Consultation Workshop on Consumer Protection Draft Law was held by Myanmar Consumers Union at Orchid Hotel, Yangon on December 20-21, 2017 with support of USAID’s grant. There were many weak points in Consumer Protection Law enacted on March 14th, 2014. Then new consumer protection law is drafted again and announced on state own newspaper in late October 2017. Therefore, MCU organized to hold the Two Day Public Consultation Workshop on Consumer Protection Draft Law to get suggestions, consultations to provide feedback and recommendation effectively to the concerned legislative body.
MCU Patrons, Advisors, Executive Committee Members, and Members from Yangon, Mandalay, Naypyitaw, and Mawlamyaing, interested participants from related governmental departments, donor organization, NGOs, legal firms and organizations, and other interested individuals attended the workshop and discussed on consumer protection draft law. The workshop was successfully held and led by Legal Advisors of Myanmar Consumers Union: Daw Myat Myat Kyaw and U Hla Myo Myint.
