Myanmar Consumers Union participated at Sharing Experiences on Participatory Governance: Exhibition and Workshop in Myanmar at Lotte Hotel, Yangon on 19th May 2018 and it was organized by USAID. Secretary and Joint Secretary of MCU also attended the workshop.
With a few of Democracy in Myanmar, it is time to assess how its people have been able to participate in and support policy initiatives with the Union and sub-national governments and parliaments. The goal of the workshop is to provide a forum for sharing experiences among civil society on how they have been able to engage with government on policy issues, what has worked well, and where there have been challenges. From these lessons learnt, it is hoped that recommendation can be developed for how policy dialogues can be structured to be most effective in the future.
The Secretary, Mr. Maung Maung joined the panel discussion on “Policy Dialogue on Economic Reform”. During the panel discussion, Mr. Maung Maung discussed about importance of consumer protection in economic reforms.
At MCU Booth, Myanmar Consumers Union display posters, photographs for awareness of consumer rights and protection, success of previous grant’s success including developed first every online consumer complaint mechanisms in Myanmar.
