Myanmar Consumers Union (MCU) celebrated “World Consumer Rights Day” (WCRD 2019) with funded by USAID by PSDA at Diamond Jubilee Hall, University of Yangon on March 15th, 2019 (8:30 am to 1:30 pm). President of MCU, Prof. Dr. Mar Mar Kyi gave welcome remark. Mr. Steve Parker, Chief of the Party, USAID by Private Sector Development Activity, Nathan Associates, Inc., and Dr. Min Wun, Director and Head of Food and Drug Administration Department, Yangon Region gave opening remarks for WCRD. 
Then Myanmar Academy Winning Actress Daw Swe Zin Htike (Grace) kindly delivered the message from Consumers International for World Consumer Rights Day marked with consumer rights and trusted smart products.
After photo session, U Maung Muang, MCU Secretary, presented brief history of World Consumer Rights Day and Myanmar Consumers Union.
Then panel discussion on “Consumer Rights and Trusted Smart Products” was moderated by Vice President of MCU, Dr. Htay Lwin. Panelists are: U Nay Phone Latt, Member of Yangon Region Parliament and Representative of Thin Gan Kyun Township, and Member of MIDO advisory group, U Kyaw Min Swe, Executive Director of Myanmar Journalism Institute (MJI), U Ye Htut Naing, Director of Department of Consumer Affairs (DOCA), Ministry of Commerce, U Win Min, Senior Programme Associate (Tourism, ICT, Regulator), Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business (MCRB), and Dr. Mo Mo Tin, Joint Secretary-1 and Project Manager of Myanmar Consumers Union (MCU).
After celebration of Ceremony of WCRD morning session, MCU also conducted Campaign on Consumer Rights at People’s Park and People’s Square (3:00 t0 6 pm) in the evening of March 15th, 2019 WRCD Day.
